Environment Setup Overview
To begin AI-native user module development, you need to lay the following foundations.
- A development environment for writing code on your own PC
- An iAP runtime environment where the modules you write actually run
- A mechanism that supports AI-agent-driven development
This chapter consists of three setup guides for preparing these foundations.
| Guide | What it sets up | Target readers |
|---|---|---|
| Local Development Environment | A user module development environment using VSCode and Accel CLI | You want to create and build user modules on your own PC |
| Server Environment (Docker) | An iAP development and verification environment on Docker | You want an iAP on hand to run the modules you create |
| AI-native Development Support Feature | A development support feature embedded into an iAP development environment | You want to further boost the productivity of AI-agent-driven development |
If this is your first time doing AI-native development, we recommend reading from the top in the order "Local Development Environment" ⇒ "Server Environment (Docker)" ⇒ "AI-native Development Support Feature".
Local Development Environment
Using Visual Studio Code and Accel CLI, you build an iAP user module development environment on your local PC. The goal is to reach a state where you can accomplish one or both of the following: install the required tools to create and build a new project, or migrate an existing project created with intra-mart e Builder for Accel Platform.
If you are about to begin user module development, this is your starting point. Start reading from Prerequisites for the Local Development Environment.
Server Environment (Docker)
Using Docker, you build an iAP development environment. Middleware such as Resin, the database, and Solr, which was installed directly on the OS of your local PC, is launched as containers, bringing you to a state where you can create a tenant and log in. The environment you build can be customized to your needs by additionally applying any IM-Juggling project or user module (imm file).
If you want an iAP on hand to actually run the user modules you create, refer to this guide. Start from Overview of the Server Environment (Docker).
AI-native Development Support Feature
You embed the AI-native Development Support Feature into your iAP development environment and make it ready for use. By embedding it, you can expect improved productivity in AI-native development using coding agents (Claude Code / OpenAI Codex / GitHub Copilot).
You embed and use it with IM-Juggling in advance, when building your iAP development environment. How you embed it depends on the iAP version: for 2026 Autumn or later, add it as an application; for 2026 Spring or earlier, add it as a user module. Proceed to Setting Up the AI-native Development Support Feature.
